Students Union

Article 110 of the Polish Act on Higher Education and Science

1. Students at the university establish a students union.
2. The students union operates through its bodies, including:
1) a chairman; 2) a decision-making body.
3. The students union is the exclusive representative of all students at the university.
4. The students union carries out activities within the university in the scope of student affairs, including social, welfare, and cultural matters.
5. The students union decides on the distribution of financial resources allocated by the university for student matters. The students union prepares a report on distribution and settlement of these funds no less than once in an academic year and makes it available in the Public Information Bulletin (BIP) on the university's website.
6. The decision-making body of the students union adopts a regulation determining the organization and functioning of the union, as well as the method of appointing representatives to the university bodies, and in the case of a public university, to the electoral college.
7. The regulation comes into force after the rector confirms its compliance with the law and the university's statute within 30 days from the date of its submission. The first regulation of the students union in a newly established university is adopted by the senate.
8. The rector cancels acts issued by the students union  that are inconsistent with the provisions of generally applicable law, the university's statute, the study regulations  or the students union’s regulations. To settle the reversal of an act, a complaint to the administrative court may be filed within 30 days from the date of its delivery. The provisions on impleading administrative decisions to the administrative court shall apply accordingly.
9. The university ensures the necessary conditions for the functioning of the students union, including infrastructure and financial resources available to the students union for its activities.

Academic circles and student organizations

Article 111 of the Polish Act on Higher Education and Science 

1. Students have the right to join university student organizations.
2. The body of a university student organization promptly informs the rector about its establishment.
3. The rector cancels the act of the university student organization's body that is inconsistent with the provisions of generally applicable law, the university's statute, the study regulations, or the organization's regulations. The provisions of Article 110(8), second and third sentences, shall apply accordingly.
4. The rector, by means of an administrative decision, dissolves a university student organization that flagrantly or persistently violates the provisions of generally applicable law, the university's statute, the study regulatins, or the organization's regulations.
5. The university may allocate funds for the implementation of activities by university student organizations and associations operating within the university that exclusively gather students or students, PhD students and university employees. These entities shall submit a report to the university on the use of funds received in a given academic year.
